style offer or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/lead-magnet-ideas-funnel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lead Magnet squeeze page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can see the spikes of traffic we get when we drop these emails&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/dedicated-email-drops-img3.jpg\" alt=\"dedicated-email-drops-img3\" width=\"580\" height=\"216\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yep&#8230; email drops can send\u00a0blasts of traffic\u00a0to your website all at once. \u00a0(Make sure your server is ready ;))<\/p>\n<p>This is a fantastic website traffic strategy to add to add to your arsenal\u00a0if you&#8217;re using (or are unable to use) an ad network with a reputation for banning accounts or disapproving ads.<\/p>\n<p>Before we get started let&#8217;s clear up a few questions you might have.<\/p>\n<h2>Dedicated Email Drops: The Basics<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Q: \u00a0Why would someone sell me their email list?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A:<\/strong>\u00a0 Great question. \u00a0And the answer is <strong>they aren&#8217;t selling you their email list<\/strong>. \u00a0They are selling you <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ACCESS<\/span> to their email list. \u00a0They will send the email on your behalf and (ideally) will endorse you and your offer in that email.<\/p>\n<p>Notice how Newsmax\u00a0endorses Survival Life in this email to their list&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-55389 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/dedicated-email-drops-img2.jpg\" alt=\"Dedicated Email Drops\" width=\"580\" height=\"608\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You won&#8217;t receive the actual email addresses. \u00a0You give them money, they send an email to their list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: How much does a dedicated email drop cost?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A<\/strong>: It depends on the list. \u00a0I&#8217;ve spent as little as $5 and as much as $40,000 on a single email drop.<\/p>\n<p>Email drops are quoted on a Cost Per Thousand (CPM) basis and usually fall between $6 and $20 per thousand email addresses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: Where do I find these email lists?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A:<\/strong> I&#8217;m glad you asked. \u00a0That&#8217;s what the rest of this article is about. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<h2>How to Find an Email List to Rent<\/h2>\n<p>I&#8217;ve found that doing the research myself is more effective than using a list broker.<\/p>\n<p>It takes some elbow grease but, in the end, I end up with more clicks for less cost.<\/p>\n<p>That said, you could use a service like&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/next.srds.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SRDS<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nextmark.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nextmark<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8230; to find email lists and contact a broker that will consult with you.<\/p>\n<p>But, if you want to do the research yourself and contact the list owner directly, I use three tools.<\/p>\n<h2>The first two tools are free browser plug-ins for Chrome&#8230;<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/similar-sites\/necpbmbhhdiplmfhmjicabdeighkndkn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/similar-sites\/necpbmbhhdiplmfhmjicabdeighkndkn\">Similar Sites<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/google-similar-pages\/pjnfggphgdjblhfjaphkjhfpiiekbbej\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/google-similar-pages\/pjnfggphgdjblhfjaphkjhfpiiekbbej\">Google Similar Pages<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let&#8217;s say I want to find lists in the health and fitness space.<\/p>\n<p>I go to Google and type in &#8216;health and fitness blog&#8217; and find a blog called &#8216;Greatist&#8217;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-55207\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/ded-emails-img7.jpg\" alt=\"ded-emails-img7\" width=\"580\" height=\"279\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I visit the site and check the top navigation and footer navigation looking to see if they advertise&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Nothing in the top navigation but when I get to the footer, I find it&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-55209\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/ded-emails-img8a.jpg\" alt=\"ded-emails-img8a\" width=\"580\" height=\"268\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They have a number of advertising options including Newsletter Sponsorship which may or may not mean they&#8217;ll allow a dedicated email. \u00a0It&#8217;s definitely worth reaching out to get the details&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55210\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/ded-emails-img9.jpg\" alt=\"ded-emails-img9\" width=\"580\" height=\"226\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I could reach out to Greatist and be done with it &#8212; but I&#8217;m going to take it a step further.<\/p>\n<p>I click on the Google Similar Pages or Similar Sites extension in Chrome and find a number of sites like this one that allow me to explore further and find more potential places to buy email drops.<\/p>\n<p>I see a site that looks promising in Google Similar Pages called &#8216;ideafit.com&#8217;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-55221\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/ded-emails-img14.jpg\" alt=\"ded-emails-img14\" width=\"579\" height=\"425\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And good news when I visit their site, I find another possible dedicated email opportunity&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55222\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/ded-emails-img15.jpg\" alt=\"ded-emails-img15\" width=\"580\" height=\"316\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I reach out to Idea Fit and\u00a0and\u00a0repeat the process until I&#8217;ve reached out to 5 to 10 possible lists.<\/p>\n<h2>But, when I want to do some serious research&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>&#8230; I turn to a paid tool like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatrunswhere.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">What Runs Where<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ok, so What Runs Where isn&#8217;t cheap but the data in there can be very useful if you are doing a lot of media buying.<\/p>\n<p>That said, What Runs Where is an optional tool &#8212; you can get this done with the free browser plug-ins above.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Let&#8217;s repeat the process above using this paid tool.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I go to Google and type in &#8216;health and fitness blog&#8217; but I&#8217;m going to take it a step further.<\/p>\n<p>I go to What Runs Where and put greatist.com into the &#8220;By advertiser&#8221; tab&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55211\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/ded-emails-img10.jpg\" alt=\"ded-emails-img10\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I then select &#8220;Category Publishers&#8221; in the left navigation and find other publishers like trails.com&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-55212\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/ded-emails-img11.jpg\" alt=\"ded-emails-img11\" width=\"577\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps I should be advertising with trails.com too.<\/p>\n<p>I head over to trails.com and find their advertising information&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55213\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/ded-emails-img12.jpg\" alt=\"ded-emails-img12\" width=\"580\" height=\"180\" \/><br \/>\nI contact trails.com and then repeat the process until I have a good list of potential publishers.<\/p>\n<p>What Runs Where makes this process very simple. \u00a0They show me exactly where my competitors are buying advertising and media.<\/p>\n<p>Ok, now that I&#8217;m finding some advertising options, it&#8217;s time to get organized.<\/p>\n<h2>How to\u00a0Make a Dedicated Email Plan<\/h2>\n<p>As I&#8217;m finding possible vendors to buy email drops from, I add them to a spreadsheet that I call my Dedicated Email Planner.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s looks like this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-55387\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/dedicated-email-drops-img1.jpg\" alt=\"dedicated-email-drops-img1\" width=\"580\" height=\"181\" \/><\/p>\n<p>[<strong>NOTE TO DM LAB MEMBERS<\/strong>: \u00a0There is a downloadable version of the Dedicated Email Planner (and a video showing you how to use it) in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/course\/dedicated-email\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Traffic Avalanche Execution Plan<\/a> that can be accessed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/course\/dedicated-email\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a> if you are a member of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmarketer.com\/the-ultimate-marketing-shortcut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Digital Marketer Lab<\/a>. \u00a0This spreadsheet will automate the metrics calculations I will detail below]<\/p>\n<p>The full list of columns in the Dedicated Email Planner are (in order):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>List Name<\/li>\n<li>URL<\/li>\n<li>Contact Name<\/li>\n<li>Email<\/li>\n<li>List Cost<\/li>\n<li># of Subscribers<\/li>\n<li>Open Rate (Estimated)<\/li>\n<li>Click-Through Rate (Estimated)<\/li>\n<li>Cost Per Click (Estimated)<\/li>\n<li>Landing Page Conversion Rate (Estimated)<\/li>\n<li>Cost Per Lead\/ Cost Per Acquisition (Estimated)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The first four columns of The Dedicated Email Planner will keep you organized as you do your research.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the columns will help you decide if you should buy access to an email list based on the most important metric&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cost Per Lead (CPL)<\/li>\n<li>Cost Per Acquisition (CPA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You&#8217;ll calculate the former if you&#8217;re sending clicks to a Lead Magnet opt-in and the latter if you&#8217;re sending clicks to a sales page.<\/p>\n<p>Ok, now it&#8217;s time for a bit of simple math&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>Dedicated Email Drops: Calculating the\u00a0Metrics<\/h2>\n<p>Don&#8217;t worry, this really is <em>simple<\/em> math.<\/p>\n<p>But doing these calculations is important because it will help you choose the right list to rent for your email drop.<\/p>\n<p>We start by getting the&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>List Cost<\/li>\n<li># of Subscribers<\/li>\n<li>Open Rate<\/li>\n<li>and Click-Through Rate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8230; from the vendor\u00a0so we can\u00a0calculate the Cost Per Click.<\/p>\n<p>For example, an email list of&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100,000 subscribers&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>that costs $1,500 to rent ($15 CPM)&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>with an estimated 15% Open Rate&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>and an estimated 16% Click-Through Rate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8230; will yield an estimated 2,400 clicks to your offer or Lead Magnet opt-in page.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>$1,500\u00a0clicks \/ 2,400 clicks = $.62 Cost Per Click<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>$.62 clicks&#8230;
